Nordplus Sustainable Water and Energy Management in Environmental Engineering (NORDSWEM2014)
The Nordplus-network “Sustainable Water and Energy Management in Environmental Engineering” (=NORDSWEM) will develop, create and design new ways to approach climate change issues. The energy issues related to alternative technologies will be promoted during the project.
Reykjavik University, School of Science and Engineering (http://www.ru.is). Area of expertise: Renewable natural resources and natural alternative energy forms.
TTK University of Applied Sciences (Tallinn), Faculty of Architectural and Environmental Engineering ( http://www.tktk.ee). Area of expertise: How new technologies can be used parallel with old technologies; also expertise in fossil fuels and coal slate.
Halmstad University, School of Business and Engineering (http://www.hh.se/). Area of expertise: Energy and environmental science.
Tampere University on Applied Sciences. The programme in Environmental Engineering.
(http://www.tamk.fi/). Area of expertise: Nuclear power, bio energy and new energy technologies.
Each university will send 5 students, along with a teacher, to an intensive study week. In the spring of 2014 the intensive study week will be hosted by the co-ordinating University of Applied Sciences in Tampere. The course consists of pre-tasks given to the students through the project’s www.nordswem2014.webs.com portal.
All the students will get 3 ECT units as a part of their engineering examination by completing the following tasks: (i) handing in of pre-tasks for the study week (1 ECT unit) (ii) taking part in the study week in Finland (1 ECT unit) (iii) handing in of 2 reports: Daily travel diary and a Scientific report on the issues discussed during the study week (1 ECT unit).
